Our one day wine tour in Armenia accompanied with cheese-making traditions will help you to touch the history of winemaking.
Mikayelyan Family Farm
Early in the morning we will drive to Gavar town in Gegharkunik province. There we are going to visit Mikayelyan Family Farm where we will have an excursion in the farm, we will do a cheese-making master class and tasting.
Degustation in Mikayelyan Farm includes wine, a plate of 9 types of cheeses including cheeses aged in wine and cognac, fruits, jam, crackers and etc.
Orbelyan’s Caravanserai
After cheese tasting and wine degustation we will continue our way to ancient Orbelyan’s caravanserai. The caravanserai was built in 1332 and offered hospitality to travelers passing through Vardenyats pass.
Next will visit the Areni 1 cave which is considered to have the oldest wine production facility. It is also the place where the oldest leather shoe known in the world was discovered by an international team of archeologists in 2008.
Tirinity Canyon Vineyards
Then we will continue our tour to Trinity Canyon Vineyards. There we will have an overview of Armenian winemaking traditions with the introduction to TCV’s philosophy of organic winemaking. Then we will have a tasting of 3 wines with locally made cheese and lavash.
In the evening we will return to Yerevan
