Tortum is a river flowing in the Armenian Highlands, which is the left tributary of Olti River. It starts from the eastern slopes of Khopa Mountain range. Its length is about 112 km.The waterfall is formed by the river running into Tortum lake. Falling from 48 meters up, and at a width of 45 meters. The river’s source of water is mainly from snow and rain, and has periods of more activity. For this reason, the waterfall is does not consistently flow throughout the year. The area is forested and green, with valleys and gorges.
Tortum Waterfall is one of the highest waterfalls in the world and is included in UNESCO’s heritage list, where approximately 5 thousand tourists visit annually.
