Mount Sharayi or Surb Hovhannes is located in the Shirak region of Armenia, between Aragats and Pambak mountain ranges. The height of the mountain is 2475 m; the perimeter of the base is about 5 km. It consists of anthropogenic lavas, slags, glaciofluvial deposits. The landscape is mountain-steppe.
According to the legend, the name of the mountain is associated with the name Shara, the ruler of Shirak.
