Red Bridge of Yerevan

Red Bridge of Yerevan

The Red bridge of Yerevan passes over the river Hrazdan and is the oldest preserved bridge in Yerevan. The latter was built in 1679. It was built in the place of the bridge that was ruined by earthquake. The bridge was built with the sponsorship of one of the rich men from Kanaker Khoja Pilavi. On the honor of which the bridge is sometimes called the bridge of Khoja Pilavi. The bridge was called Red, as it was made of a red tuff and has a red coloring.

The red bridge of Yerevan has a length of 80 meters and a height of 10 meters. This used to be the only construction that connected the Fortress of Yerevan (currently Yerevan Noy Wine Brandy Vodka Factory) and the whole district with the Ararat plain including Ejmiatsin, Aparan, Talin, etc…).
