Paddleboarding on Azat reservoir is rapidly gaining popularity. In 2021, Armenian Geographic began to organize SUP tours in Azat reservoir. After we shared the photos taken during these SUP tours, more and more people became interested in this place, as well as in paddleboarding.
Paddleboarding on Azat Reservoir
Azat reservoir is located in the Ararat Region in Armenia. It is situated at an altitude of 1050 meters above sea level, holds 70 million cubic meters of water and is used for irrigation of the Ararat valley. The reservoir is built on Azat River. The upper reaches of this river, together with the Geghard Monastery, are included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The reservoir is one of the favorite places for fishermen, as it is home to many fish species. In recent years, more and more people have been visiting this reservoir. All because it is very beautiful. The wonderful landscapes attract locals and tourists.
Paddleboarding on Azat reservoir will give you an opportunity to have a pleasant and productive day. It is not that difficult to master this water sport. After a short training, on the very first day you will be able to independently stand on a board and ride along the Azat reservoir.
SUP tour lasts approximately half a day and takes place in the morning. On weekends, it is possible to organize an afternoon tour. To fully enjoy this activity, beginners will need about 2.5-3 hours. If you are an experienced SUP surfer, you can inform us about it in advance, and we will organize a tour that meets your requirements and wishes.
