At the beginning of our journey, we’ll head to the Charents Arch, from this place we can enjoy a fascinating view of Mount Ararat if the weather is clear.

Then we will visit the Geghard monastery complex, carved right into the rock. The monastery is included in UNESCO List of World Heritage, which speaks of its special significance and value. Then the pagan temple of Garni, which is dedicated to Mithra, the God of Sun. After visiting the temple the group will descend into the gorge of the Azat River, where the natural monument “Symphony of Stones” is located. It consists of many hexagonal basalt columns of volcanic origin.

From here, we’ll begin our hike through the Khosrov Forest Reserve toward the Havuts Tar Monastic Complex (11th century). Havuts Tar Monastery is one of the important spiritual and cultural centers of medieval Armenia. During the Middle Ages, the Havuts Tar complex was also known as a significant center for the creation and copying of numerous manuscripts.

This is a tourist destination that few people know about, but those who decide to hike up to the monastery and explore this hidden gem will be rewarded with stunning views of the Azat River Gorge and the surrounding rocky landscapes.

In the evening, we return to Yerevan.
