Glut and Vardut Mountains

Taper Mountains

Length: 12 km

Highest summit: Mount Vardut (2,353 m)

Coordinates: 41°4’31.14, 44°30’4.80

Located in Lori Province, the Taper Mountains make up the southeastern branch of the Lejan Massif, starting from the Lejan summit and stretching to the southeast towards the summit of Mount Metstun. At this point they change direction and head southwest (towards Dzoraget Gorge). These mountains serve as a watershed between the Hovanadzor and Mendzor Rivers. Their highest point is Mount Vardut.

Mount Vardut

Mount Vardut lies between the Mendzor and Hovanadzor Rivers at a distance of 5 km northwest from Hovanadzor village. The slopes of Mount Vardut feature several springs and abundant meadow vegetation, as well as masses of stones.

Kamatur Mountains

Length: 3.5 km

Highest summit: Mount Glut (2,101 m)

Coordinates: 41°3’8.79, 44°31’14.35

Located in Lori Province, the Kamatur Mountains comprise the eastern branch of the Taper Mountains, starting from the Metstun summit and stretching to the Hovanadzor River Valley in an easterly direction. Mount Glut is located on the right bank of the Hovanadzor River, 2 km north of Hovanadzor village.

Mount Glut

The slopes of Mount Glut are rocky and covered with alpine meadows, while the northeastern slope is home to the Atcharkut Springs.
