In September 2020, the ArmGeo Lori project was launched. The residents of Lori and nearby regions now have the opportunity to participate in hikes from the city of Vanadzor. Our mountain friends Garnik Poghosyan and Anahit Karapetyan head the Lori branch.

The emergence of an idea
The idea of creating a branch in Vanadzor arose because there were many hikers from Lori region who for many years traveled a long way to participate in our hikes from Yerevan. Many of them said that they wanted to go hiking from their own region, but could not find groups that organize hikes from Lori. This is how the idea of creating ArmGeo Lori project arose.

The purpose of the project
There was no hiking culture developed in the Lori region. However, many hikers were unable to hike from their home region. We believe that this project will help develop a hiking culture in other regions of Armenia as well. This will be a new form of entertainment and sports for residents of the regions. Fans of active leisure living outside of Yerevan will have the opportunity to participate in hikes and mountain climbing.
Launch of “ArmGeo Lori” project
ArmGeo Lori project started with the hike to Mount Dzithanits, which is located south of Vanadzor. This destination was very special, as this mountain is one of the symbols of Vanadzor and is known among the locals as Maymekh.
To make the ascent more memorable, the team from Yerevan also headed to Mount Dzithanits, but from the opposite side. Thus, from two different sides, the teams from Yerevan and Vanadzor walked towards each other and met at the top of the mountain, celebrating the beginning of the project.

“ArmGeo Lori” kids club
After the successful start of the project, we decided to create an opportunity for the children of the region to participate in the hikes. Therefore, we started organizing hikes for kids from Lori region.
Within the framework of the “ArmGeo Lori” project, we organize hiking trips, mountain climbing, campgrounds.
The launch of Lori’s ArmGeo project was successful, with varied responses. Thanks to this project, the idea of the introduction and development of hiking life in the region becomes real and very promising.
